In 1983 Gary recorded a totally amazing record called Pray for Smurph. It was only released in Japan and is now very rare. Awesome people like Ian McLagen (of The Faces!) played on it. It's psychedelic country music, like Will Oldham except it's Gary Panter and it's 1983! Whoah! This new CD reissue (only available in Japan, and in an edition of 1000) also comes with a genuine Freak Flag designed by Gary.
