AMJ is produced by our pals at Soundscreen. These are gorgeous books of art by musicians, slipcased in an elegant consistent design. All are limited to 1000 copies and are quite awesome. The Artist Music Journal series is highly recommended.
About this book:
Edition 05 in the ongoing Artist Music Journals series features the work of the indefinable German team of Christian “Meeloo” Gfeller and Anna Hellsgård, known as Bongout. Their contribution to the series was described by it’s creators as ”…an experimental collage book. We actually scanned some covers from our records collection and cut and paste them into this new project.”
Featuring source material from albums as diverse as Black Dice’s “Broken Ear Record” to The Meteors’ “In Heaven”, the 24 pages of this AMJ are a kind of visual remix of selections from Bongout’s record collection.
About Bongout - The traditionally distinct white cubed galleries are getting schooled by the broader vision of innovators Christian “Meeloo” Gfeller and Anna Hellsgård. In February 2008 they opened the doors to Bongout Gallery located in Berlin’s Mitte, a place where contemporary art meets graphic, chance and underground art as well as numerous forms of sound and visual cultures. Here they have been able to showcase the many colors of their vision.
Bongout’s silkscreened books & posters are collected by institutions across the globe, including MOMA NY, MOMA SF, Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard University Fine Art’s Library, Smith Collage, UCLA, Musee d’Art Moderne et Contemporain Strasbourg, and Yale University.
