“These original drawings are the closest one gets to the original ideas. Whilst inevitably flawed, there is an honesty to them, a directness of thought and execution. Their lack of self-consciousness gives them a purity that a ‘finished’ thing – a toy, an illustration – may lack, by virtue of being that much further away in process from that initial, perfect idea.” - James Jarvis 2007.
Amos Novelties presents the release of it’s third printed publication. Selected Drawings by James Jarvis is a 240 page perfect-bound collection of some of the illustrator’s favorite drawings from 2001 to 2007. Lovingly compiled by Jarvis himself, the volume includes work that later became commercial illustrations, comic strips, t-shirt graphics and toys, as well as many drawings Jarvis created purely for his own satisfaction. Selected Drawings is an intriguing insight into the process between the formulation of an idea, and the realization of the idea in physical form.
