Pascal Doury is one of my absolute favorite artists in the world. He worked from the mid 70s until his death in 2001. With Bruno Richard He broke new ground with his combination of beautiful highly rendered forms and utterly horrific scenarios. His books and paintings are a milestone for image-based underground art. Sadly, it’s mostly been available in very rare editions, until now. This is a special publication devoted to Doury’s life and art and represents the only in-print color edition of his work. Features texts by Gary Panter, Art Spiegelman, Olivia Clavel, and others. You want to know where Le Dernier Cri comes from? Or where much of contemporary European “art-brut” originates. Look no further than Doury and his world.
