A few hot L.A. items for you people out there. Ben Jones is currently in Burbank making a pilot episode of his very own animated program for a top flight cable channel! Pictures to follow. And Gary Panter, favorite dude of the city of angels, was featured in last week’s epic newsletter and here is an interview with Gars and an excellent video in which Mike Kelley and Matt Groening pay tribute. And Frank Santoro recently returned from a triumphant campaign across Gaul territory in support of the French edition of Storeyville. Finally, our own Comics Comics has gotten a gorgeous makeover by pals Mike Reddy and Ray Sohn. Thanks to all.

More, Now, Forever

Yet more new products for your shopping pleasure. First, we are pleased to announce that we are the exclusive U.S. distributor of the French drawing book Nazi Knife 6. No, we don’t love the title either, and not just because three-quarters of our family was wiped by the Nazis. But these young men are not Nazis – they’re just French noise dudes and they can’t help it! Anyhow, the contents are great. Amazing work from an international collection of weirdos: CF, Leon Sadler, Jonas Delaborde, Frederic Fleury, and many others. Yep. Also now in stock: Two great publications by Daniel Higgs and Bongout, published by our pals at Soundscreen! And finally, we also have stock of the great new Wild For Adventure by John Broadley.

Have mercy, there are yet more products now in stock. Very funny comics from British man Leon Sadler here, here and here. Frenchman Blexbolex’s first English language book, Abecederia, Noel and Lane’s new jam, and no day is complete without a new Matthew Thurber comic. Finally, we have brand new printsby the brilliant Will Sweeney, of Greenfuzz infamy. Damn straight.

Happy 2010

Posted by Dan on Jan 5, 2010

This space-age decade is upon us. PictureBox is very excited about this new year. To begin with, we have confirmed (at last) final (seriously) release dates for Powr Mastrs 3 and If ‘n Oof. CF and Chippendale have labored mightily – both books are longer and even more intense than before. They will arrive in our New Jersey warehouse around June 3, and will ship out shortly thereafter. Trust me, they are worth the wait. Stay tuned for tour and event information around these books. Now, over the course of 2010 we will be releasing other publications, too. Among these is our proud foray into literature: a reprint of Charles Willeford’s memoir, I Was Looking for a Street, due out in March. And much, much more, to be announced. It’s going to be a good new year.
