Round-Up Rodeo

January 3rd, 2014 by Dan Nadel

Well, much digital ink has been spilled over various PictureBox releases. Here’s a rundown of some highlights in semi-random order:

Matthew Thurber interviewed at The Paris Review, INFOMANIACS reviewed here and here.

Frank Santoro’s Pompeii is rightfully named Book of the Year, is given an exhaustive review at The LA Review of Books, and Frank himself was interviewed at Robot 6.

The great Anya Davidson is interviewed over here and School Spirits positively reviewed by PW.

Wes Lang’s LA book launch covered at Purple.
Our Colby launch covered at Gay Letter.

I liked Chris Mautner’s Year-End list for obvious reasons, as well as Rob Clough’s and Nick Gazin’s, not to mention Comics Alliance and Experiments in Manga. All very nice mentions for PBox books.

A very nice podcast about PictureBox and a piece by Frank Santoro wrote a very touching piece for The Washington Post.

In case you didn’t see it, PictureBox as a whole was named a Pick of the Year over at Manga Bookshelf, too! (

This blog is going to take you to school. You will learn about all things PictureBox: old dudes; obscure design; good painting; bad painting; dogs; annoying product endorsements. And so forth. All from me, Dan Nadel, your PictureBox host.
