In our ongoing attempts to bring you the finest in fine, PictureBox is releasing two limited edition publications by Renee French and Frank Santoro. Both are signed and numbered editions of 300, printed on a Risograph somewhere in Los Angeles. These will be mighty handsome.
Renee’s is called Bjornstrand and is 24 pages and 5 x 7 ins. Renee tell us that Bjornstrand is a self-contained narrative but the titular character will show up elsewhere, too.
Frank’s is called Pompeii and is a return to straightforward comic book narrative, chronicling the life of two artists in the doomed city of Pompeii. It’s some of Frank’s best work to date, and is 32 pages, 8.5 x 11 ins.
Both will debut at SPX in Bethesda, MD on Sept. 15-16, with both artists in attendance. And of course both will be available on this very web site shortly thereafter.
Here’s an image from Bjornstrand to tide you over!
This blog is going to take you to school. You will learn about all things PictureBox: old dudes; obscure design; good painting; bad painting; dogs; annoying product endorsements. And so forth. All from me, Dan Nadel, your PictureBox host.
