Jim Steranko
Former escape artist Jim Steranko (b. 1938) revolutionized comic books in the 1960s with his work on Nick Fury: Agent of Shield, which combined pop and op-art graphics with cinema-inflected storytelling and dynamic anatomy. He is the author of a superlative two-colume history of comics and his 1970s magazine Media Scene was a highwater mark in early SF and comics fan publishing, featuring enormous, beautifully separated color images and chunky, post-pop typography.
